French live in Tokyo for the last 23 years, fluent in Japanese reading, writing language. Preparing the first degree of the Japanese proficiency language this year. I already took the TOEIC test got 965 points september2000. French is my mother tongue. I have various experiences in translation/ interpreting works. I am looking forward translating subtitles for TV programs, news, movies as the translation in the latter one is most of the time from poor to bad.

What drives me nuts when it comes to reading subtitles in Japanese from for example an American movie such as "the departed". Lines as "I'll waste you" meaning I'll kill you rendered by ...yes nothing .In an other example a translated book from English into Japanese with the most irritating example of "... a piece of cake..." turning into a slice of cake. In the poor world of tranlation for books and or TV ,movies the litteral translation is part of the work word for word unfortunately, regardless of time or space limitation . No legitimate directors deserved this subwork of translation.
